The Osprey Links Charity Golf Gala, presented by OneLife Wealth Management, raised $55,000 for the Cancer Care Close to Home campaign. During the past six years this tournament has contributed more than $200,000 toward our community’s greatest medical needs at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.
Shawn Flindall of OneLife Wealth Management, this year’s platinum sponsor, said there was a reason the company decided to support this year’s golf tournament. “At OneLife we are in the business of caring for people and their financial future. We’ve created a great team, one that will make a difference in business and in our community. We are honoured to do our part to inspire our community to support the Cancer Care Close to Home campaign.”
Honorary Tournament Co-Chairs, Michael Harris, former Premier of Ontario and and Vic Fedeli, Ontario Minister of Finance and MPP Nipissing, opened the tournament with a ceremony on the putting green. “This year, we’re proud to be supporting the Cancer Care Close to Home campaign at NBRHC. Peter Minogue will always be a part of this tournament and as its Co-chairs we are honoured to pause to remember him in this meaningful way,” said Harris.
“We know Peter would be pleased that our communities are continuing to benefit through the annual Osprey Links Chairity Golf Gala,” said Vic Fedeli. “This tournament has been giving back to the community for 20 years, raising more than half a million dollars. Our hospital and healthcare have always been our top priorities.”
Representing her late husband Peter, Honorary Campaign Co-chair of the Cancer Care Close to Home campaign, Barbara Minogue thanked the participants of the tournament on behalf of the 25 campaign volunteers whose effort will raise the balance of the $6M goal for cancer care.
This past year the Cancer Care Close to Home campaign ensured the first of two CT scanners was funded. It arrived and began serving our community in late spring. “With your support, the second CT scanner will be announced soon,” said Paul Heinrich, President and CEO of NBRHC. “A second scanner will reduce wait times and introduce new screening programs for patients at risk for certain kinds of cancer. This is a transformation for our area, made possible through this important campaign.”
Tammy Morison, President & CEO, NBRHC Foundation thanked the golfers, sponsors and volunteers who made the golf tournament a success. “This tournament is helping build momentum for community support of this Campaign. Some people might be surprised to learn that the government does not fund medical equipment, and it is actually the responsibility of the hospital and the community-together,” said Morison.
