Virtual Fitness Challenge – Our Hospital Walk/Run
The 14th annual Our Hospital Walk/Run was hosted on a virtual platform for this year’s socially distant fundraiser. With 210 participants it raised more than $84,339 during this past weekend. Opening ceremonies and morning warm-up routines were broadcast over social media and walkers and runners posted their results, inspiring others to also go the extra mile.
This year celebrated and acknowledged all frontline workers and raised funds for advanced medical equipment to serve our community. It featured 29 teams; businesses, families, and friends, walking and running the family mile, 5km, 10km or 14km virtual events. The youngest participant was just 7 weeks old.
Special thanks and recognition to these 29 teams who stood together and stayed 6 feet apart:
“It was so heartwarming to know that our community was engaged and inspired to participate, fundraise, and sponsor this year’s Walk/Run,” said Tammy Morison, Foundation President and CEO. “Even though we were not able to gather together, we could really feel the energy in our community from all those who were participating and posting on social media over the weekend,” she added.
Since the inception of Our Hospital Walk/Run in 2006, our community has raised more than $1.4M in support of the North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC).
Participants can submit their results until September 29th at 11:59pm on their Race Roster profile page. Medals were available for pick up on Sunday and the rest will be mailed. Race results and more information about the event are available at www.ourhospitalwalkrun.ca.
