After 13 years of fundraising in North Bay, Lois Krause, President and CEO of the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation (NBRHCF) is set to retire April 30th of this year.
Krause was recruited in 2001 to develop the Hospital Foundation and to be the staff lead on the Caring for Generation Campaign, the largest fundraising endeavour in the history of North Bay. That campaign raised an unprecedented $18.2 M and won First Place Capital Campaign Award from the Association of Health Care Philanthropy Canada in 2004.
Through generous financial gifts, the Foundation has supported the build of the new Health Centre, and more recently assisted the hospital with its $10M investment in a new MRI and other diagnostic imaging equipment.
Krause’s 30 year career has earned her a number of other prestigious recognitions including the Influential Women of North Ontario, Public Sector Award 2006; the Rotary Club of North Bay Paul Harris Award: Service above Self in 2007 and the Association of Health Care Philanthropy Canada: Mentorship Award 2012.
“Under Lois’ expert leadership, the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation is inspiring our communities to invest in the Health Centre to help provide more advanced levels of care,” says Lachlan McLachlan, Foundation Board Chair. “On behalf of the Board of Trustees for the Foundation, I want to express our sincerest gratitude to Lois Krause for her dedication and guidance, and we wish her well in her retirement.”
“The hard working staff of the hospital, the focused efforts of the volunteers that support the Hospital and the Foundation, and the unbelievable generosity of individuals and corporations in our area has inspired me to do my best,” says Krause.
“The Foundation has established a comprehensive fund development program and a strong governance structure under Krause’s leadership,” says Foundation Vice-Chair Guido Verrillo. “We will begin a recruitment process immediately to find an experienced new President and CEO to continue our work of closing our communities’ healthcare gap.”
The Foundation will invite qualified candidates to apply for the position over the next few months through northern Ontario newspapers.
