Eating Disorders Program

Located at the North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC), the Eating Disorders Program (EDP) is an outpatient, specialized community-based service for the Nipissing District. We offer support to children, adolescents, and adults with feeding and eating disorders.

How to Access Services

Services are available to individuals who have been referred by primary care providers (PCP), Nurse Practitioners (NPs) with a billing number, or other medical physicians.

To refer a patient to the Eating Disorders Program, complete the Eating Disorder Program Referral Form (RHC 3428).

Our Team

The EDP is a team of dedicated professionals including a Registered Social Worker, Registered Nurse, and Registered Dietitian. Additional team members may include a psychiatrist, pediatrician, family physician, and/or NP.

Assessment Process

The EDP will conduct an evidenced based assessment, and provide recommendations and/or treatment options. Participation is voluntary, and you are free to accept or decline the recommendations and/or treatment options. If you choose to proceed with treatment, you may be placed on a waitlist.

Treatment Options

The EDP currently offers outpatient treatment in the form of Family Based Treatment (FBT) and  Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT-E). If these treatment options are not appropriate for your situation, we may offer short-term dietary counselling or refer you to alternative treatments such as an inpatient stay or day treatment.

Medical Monitoring

Check ups with your primary care provider are a necessary part of the treatment process and you are responsible to make regular appointments. The team may reach out to your PCP as part of your care.
