The role of the Psychogeriatric Resource Consultant (PRC) is to support healthcare providers in long-term care homes (LTCHs), CCAC, hospitals and MOH funded community support agencies that provide care for older adults with neurocognitive disorders (e.g. dementia, delirium), other complex physical and mental health needs and associated responsive behaviours.
This dynamic inter-professional team engages care collaborators in building capacity through indirect case consultation, network development and knowledge exchange based on best practice fundamentals, such as P.I.E.C.E.S; U-FIRST; Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care (GPA); Montessori-Based Dementia Programming; Geriatric Mental Health Foundations; PSW Champion etc.
Staff of LTCHs, Hospitals, CCAC & associated community agencies may contact the PRC team through the NE BSO central intake line or directly by phone or e-mail to request support.
