The goal of the Breathing Clinic at North Bay Regional Health Centre is to improve the quality of life in patients diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) through consistent care across the healthcare continuum.
The clinic provides a comprehensive evaluation of the patient’s COPD status by a Respirologist who will recommend or implement management strategies in conjunction with the family physician that may include changes in medication, further testing, oxygen prescriptions and referrals to rehabilitation.
A Registered Respiratory Therapist/Certified Respiratory Educator also provides patient education, smoking cessation counseling, spirometry, 6 Minute Walk Tests and independent Exercise Assessments where required.
Referral by a primary care provider or specialist is required.
