Endoscopy Clinic

Patients requiring a broad range of endoscopic procedures are seen in our Endoscopy Clinic. The procedures are performed by gastroenterologists or surgeons with the assistance of a specially trained nurse. A scope (or tube) inserted through the patient’s mouth or rectum will assist the doctor in looking at the bowel, esophagus or stomach to provide a diagnosis, or assist in treatment of a problem.

Sometimes a short recovery period is necessary; patients are recovered and discharged through our Surgical Clinic.

You must have a friend or family member with you to take you home after your procedure, as you will require sedation for the procedure.

This is a day clinic and patients can go home after their procedure.

Procedures performed in this clinic:
biopsies may be done during the procedure

  • Gastroscopy (to look into your stomach)
  • Colonoscopy (to look into your large intestines)
  • Esophageal dilatation
  • Varices banding
  • Foreign body removal
  • Removal of polyp
  • Tumour tattooing
  • Insertion of PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) tubes and ERCP’s (endoscopic retrograde cholangio pancreatography)

A physician referral is needed; please bring your Ontario Health Card with you.
