Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU)

PACU nursing staff, anaesthestists and surgeons work collaboratively to help patients recover from the anaesthesia that was given during surgery. Patients are monitored closely by highly skilled nurses to ensure a successful and faster recovery during the immediate time after surgery.

Recognizing the unique needs of pediatric patients, the North Bay Regional Health Centre provides a separate PACU area for children to both wait for and recover from surgery.

PACU nursing staff are trained to provide services in both the PACU and the Day Surgery Recovery areas, thereby providing seamless quality patient care.
